I'm not as freaked out as last time I lived in a high-rise apartment. Out the other window is a view of the ocean, full of tankers and oil refineries - very surreal at night.
The last time I checked, the rental rates at the Blue Horizon (near your place) is about S$2000/mth for a 900 sq ft studio. You're really getting a very good deal at Kent Vale. :)

Yes, and with Gilman Heights being sold 'en bloc', there is a real shortage of NUS accommodation. We are very fortunate.
